Healthy Touch: Infant Massage for Teenage Parents is an important addition to any program serving teen parents. Focusing on touch, the simple massage strokes are easy for teen parents to learn and incorporate into their daily contact times with their babies.
Infant massage enhances the bonding process through touch, eye contact, and verbal contact. It promotes physical growth and development, as well as emotional well-being. And, it provides quality time for teen mothers and fathers, while increasing confidence in parenting skills.

This video begins with a classroom introduction to healthy touch, bonding and infant massage, and is followed by a short hands-on infant massage class. Next is a step-by-step, narrated demonstration of full body massage, starring parents and babies from two Teenage Parent Programs in Tucson, Arizona.

This interactive video is a cost-effective way to bring infant massage into any teen parent program, in school, clinic, residential or community health settings.

  TESTIMONIALS

"The Healthy Touch Video has been a wonderful resource for our teen parents and staff. We have incorporated the video into a special curriculum where pregnant and parenting teens have been invited to participate in an infant toddler massage class. The response to this session has been overwhelmingly positive. It's been so nice to have a popular class session that teens actually look forward to being a part of".

"This video is an excellent tool for use in your classroom with pregnant and parenting teens. The teens in the presentation are realistic and their message about the power of touch is compelling. I highly recommend the use of this video to help facilitate bonding and all its benefits between children and their young parents".

"Thank goodness there’s finally an infant massage video for pregnant and parenting teens! Now, none of my students will ever miss learning the techniques of infant massage again! Because it was difficult to schedule qualified people to demonstrate infant massage in our nurseries, I turned to other infant massage videos. The students had difficulty relating to older mothers with different socioeconomic backgrounds. With this video they can practice with their babies while watching their peers".

TUSD, Teenage Parent Program, Tucson, AZ

"I hope that all teen parents learn how to touch their infants in healthy, nurturing ways. When teen parents learn infant massage techniques, healthy bonding can be enhanced".

"This video is an invaluable tool for professionals working in home, clinic, and community settings where family-centered health care is the focus. The video is especially helpful for teen parents struggling to stay in school. I commend Joni for her gentle, caring approach, and I know the video will assist many families to provide the nurturing care every child deserves".
